IntroductionはじめにWhy don’t you come and join us in an International Exchange?Japan has friendly relations with many countries throughout the world. We respect the peoples of the world, their culture, history and climate, and we cooperate with them as part of the international community. The identity of us Japanese is also respected and aectionately accepted by people in many countries. Such wonderful relationships are based on the deep mutual trust forged by our many predecessors, and require us to build on and continue to develop them.As a university that is open to foreign countries, Kokushikan University conducts many international exchange programs and international student support programs. These include student exchange programs (outbound and inbound) and short-term study abroad programs with recognized credits. To achieve these programs we have signed reciprocal agreements with 51 universities and three institutions overseas (as of March 2022).Students who want to study abroad as an exchange student can spend one year at a university in Western countries such as Germany, Bulgaria or Hungary, ASEAN countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, the Philippines or Indonesia, Central and East Asian countries such as Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, Taiwan, China or South Korea, or Russia. Students can have credits earned while studying abroad recognized at Kokushikan University, and can also receive nancial benets through scholarship programs.Kokushikan University also oers short-term study abroad programs during the summer and spring breaks to universities in Canada, the U.S., Australia, China and South Korea. In these programs, as well as learning the language, students also interact with other students and participate in cultural exchange while living in the local community. These overseas training courses are a good rst step toward longer-term overseas study.Apart from these study abroad programs, Kokushikan University also offers programs for interacting with international students who are studying here. There is also a program called the International University Exchange Seminar. Groups comprised of faculty members and students from Kokushikan University and from partner universities overseas hold joint seminars on specific specialized themes with an aim of deepening exchange and conducting collaborative training activities. To date, this program has been run with partner universities in the Philippines, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, and other countries and regions enabling many students to experience international exchange.These study abroad programs and related international exchange programs will surely broaden your horizons and provide you with invaluable experience as an international leader of the next generation.
